UT200 series are 6000-count digital clamp meters with auto range, large LCD, true RMS, auto-scale memory, and NCV functions. They conform to CAT III 1000V/CAT IV 600V safety rating and are certified by CE/ETL. The UT206B, UT207B, and UT208B clamp meter come with LoZ mode for eliminating ‘ghost ’voltage, LPF ACV function for measuring INV and VFD voltage, and inrush current mode for capturing transient current. The UT206B and UT208B also feature high-precision temperature measurements with 0.1 °C resolution and can be equipped with a flexible current probe to extend the AC current measurement range to 3000A.

I’m no electrician, but a serious hobbyist who builds speakers and amplifiers, and can fix simple household appliances as well troubleshoot basic electrical problems. I got this clamp meter to figure out the current of household appliances, with the help of an AC line splitter, without having to spend too much for a Fluke. Some basic observations:1. Sturdy build, feels solid in the hand.2. The LED lamp to assist with dark areas is too dim, so it’s worthless. A flashlight does a much better job.The display is difficult to see when lighting is dim. The back light function washes out the display completely when the screen is viewed from the top of the clamp meter.3. The non-contact voltage sensing (NCV) is very slow to react, taking at least 2 seconds before beeping and alerting about the presence of voltage. I prefer my pen size voltage tester to this NCV function.4. Voltage, AC and DC is quite accurate when compared to my other 2 DMMs.5. Current measurement, up to 1000A is great. A toaster oven consumes about 13 to 15A, but using an AC line splitter with a 10X loop will require a clamp meter that can measure up to 150A, so the UT207B is more than sufficient for these basic tasks.6. The leads that come with the clamp meter are mediocre at best. The meter is slow to the continuity test, but replacing the leads with better ones yield very impressive results.In conclusion, it’s a good clamp meter for the hobbyists and folks who troubleshoot basic electrical issues.

I was very pleased with this clamp meter. I mostly bought for its DC mA capabilities. It goes down to 0.001 A which is 1 mA at the 2 A setting. I believe it is more like +/- 3 mA but that’s understandable. I needed it for measuring the current my dash cams were drawing especially during parking modes. This was the perfect tool to have for this. In fact I am about to release a video on this topic soon which includes comparing two dash cams on an E36 BMW and comparing the clamp meter to the reading obtained using an inline multimeter DC Amp reader. I was impressed with how close this clamp meter matched the in series reading.

I compared the resistance measurements against standards with 1k 10k and 100k resistors and the meter was correct with +/- 1 digit. I also compared the voltage against a 5.000 V standard and it read 5.00V. I compared it against a 4.5 digit meter (that I had previously checked against 5.5 digit lab instruments) and it also was correct within +/- 1 digit. Even the clamp on current meter was better than 1% accuracy even down to 100 mA measurements (when properly zeroed). It is nice to get something that exceeds its specs. The display is easily readable in direct sun or indoors, or in total darkness if you active the back-light. The only thing I dislike about the meter is that it defaults to AC measurements so you always have to both rotate the dial and then push the blue select button once or twice to read DC volts or amps. It would be nice if it remembered the previous state when it powered up. I think there are hacks on the Internet to reprogram it to do that, but I don’t think I will bother to get the equipment required to do that.I bought it as a small meter to carry in the car for troubleshooting, but I think I will keep it for my toolbox for more frequent use for electronics troubleshooting and put another old meter in the car.

This has been very accurate and reads down further than other ones into the microamps. It’s a great multimeter for the price. Could include a few more accessories.
